Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Expert Paediatric Psychiatrists is Sydney

Unfortunately, children are not immune from mental health challenges. But our family-focused services help children, adolescents and teenagers understand their emotions and give them the tools to turn limitations into strengths.

Holistic Approach

Mental health is a complex issue influenced by biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors. Our comprehensive approach to treatment acknowledges this complexity and aims to create personalised plans tailored to individual needs. At the core of our holistic approach is a range of psychotherapy (talk therapy) styles that encourage family involvement.

An integrated treatment approach may encompass various components:

  • Individual, group, or family psychotherapy sessions

  • Medication, when appropriate

  • Collaboration with other medical or allied health professionals for specialized support

  • School engagement to address academic and social challenges

  • Collaboration with external agencies and community organizations to provide comprehensive care

By considering the full picture, we strive to provide effective and holistic mental health care that promotes recovery and well-being.

Early Intervention

In the lifespan of a child, even a year or two can make a significant difference. Early intervention has been shown to yield the most favorable results. Our initial assessment typically requires two or three sessions, after which we provide a personalized treatment recommendation.

Medication Only When Warranted

We understand that many parents are fearful of starting their children on medication.  Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists at our clinic prescribe medication only when necessary and appropriate. Medication is rarely prescribed for children under six.

Our psychiatrists’ primary emphasis lies in providing psychotherapy that involves the entire family, promoting a holistic approach to the child's mental health. At our clinic, we recognise and respect parental concerns regarding the initiation of medication for their children.

Integrated approach

Our clinic offers fully integrated services for children. We often can fully assess, diagnose and treat most conditions. We also work closely with associated psychologists to provide comprehensive diagnostic assessments as needed (Educational, Cognitive, Autism and ADHD assessments).
